Help protect academic freedom at Georgetown University
Georgetown University is the winner of the 2023 Lifetime Censorship Award from the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) for its continual failure to protect the free speech rights of students and faculty.
Georgetown appeared on FIRE’s 2022 10 Worst Colleges for free speech list for its unethical suspension and investigation of Ilya Shapiro. But last year was far from the first time Georgetown was numbered among the worst: it was also featured on the 2019, 2017, and 2015 lists.
Georgetown earns FIRE’s lowest, red light rating for its free speech policies and ranks near the bottom of FIRE’s annual College Free Speech Rankings.
Join us in telling Georgetown President John J. DeGioia to keep his promise and respect the free speech rights of students and faculty!
