Tell the Franklin, TN government: support free expression!

This month, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen in Franklin, Tennessee will vote on a Community Decency Policy that would ban any conduct in public areas that city officials subjectively decide “does not align with generally accepted community standards of behavior.” The policy includes the usual suspects like lewdness, nudity, and sexual suggestiveness, but its reach is far wider, opening the door to the city prohibiting virtually any expression some may find objectionable.

The policy would violate the First Amendment, which protects all Americans’ right to express themselves in ways that some might find offensive or distasteful.

Tell the Board of Mayor and Aldermen in Franklin, Tennessee to reject this unconstitutional policy, and help us send a message to local governments nationwide: Americans value their civil liberties and will defend them vigorously. Take action today.
